Song Review: Little King- "Opus Perficit"

Arizona's Progressive Rock band Little King have released a standalone single in support of their most recent tour across the States. The track has been released following last year's critically acclaimed "Lente Viviente". You can find a link to The Rockstar Review here

"Opus Perficit" offers another side to the band's usual standard bluesy stuff. I think the last album opened the door to the band's penchant for experimenting with different ideas and styles. This is more progressive, with some nice acoustic instrumentals that lean more towards an expressive and emotional side for the band.

The Rockstar Reviewer has covered the band for the last five years and has always been impressed by the band's musicianship and tendency to craft hook-laden tracks that capture the listener's attention from the start. The Texas-based trio formed over thirty years ago, but continue to push itself as a unit, aiming to focus on tracks that are philosophical, poetic and spiritual.

"Opus Perficit" continues where "Lente  Viviente" left off with a song that signals a move in a new direction for the band. The track feels more reflective, with elements of Pink Floyd and The Beatles. 
It's a new direction for the band, which feels like a personal choice to progress in their creative journey.

"Opus Perficit" begins by blending enchanting acoustic melodies, creating a dreamlike state of euphoria. Lead singer Ryan Rosssoff enter the fray with his light, melodic voice, which resembles a whisper. His voice intertwines with the guitar parts as a man in silent reflection as he begins to write. The tone shifts to a happier vibe in the bridge as Rossoff is joined by backing vocals, creating a harmonic passage. Rossoff's vocals shift in tempo, complementing the steady drumming, haunting piano play and melodic bass.  This combination creates an atmosphere of space and peace as the singer and band embark on this new trek to find themselves and move forward together as a unit.

"Opus Perficit" is a simple melody, stripped of all technical wizardry and polished production. It's a heartfelt song that combines dynamics, melodies and simple structure to create a pleasant track about moving forward when you reach a turning point in life.
